It is in no way the account of one specific mission nor the chronological record of space exploration but rather a selection of the most interesting photographs taken by astronauts which transport us back to the first time the human landed on the Moon, the road he travelled to achieve it and what he managed to discover. We are presenting the photographs of training, tests, and ground phases of successive missions, as well as the portraits of astronauts. The photographs are complemented by the astronauts’ quotes. Aside from the well-remembered sentences about a small step for mankind or popular “Houston, we have a problem”, we recall the words of astronauts during their missions and their afterthoughts. The album is coupled with a text about the history of space exploration and the timeline presenting the most significant events in the space race between the USA and the Soviet Union.
