He returned to Poland several months later to photograph Warsaw, Łowicz, Vilnius, as well as the Polish-Lithuanian and the Polish-Soviet borders. He portrayed political and artistic elites of that time, high society of the capital, aristocrats, aviators, sportsmen. It was in 1934 when Poland was in what seemed as the perfect balance between its two neighbours, for the first time since it gained independence. The country was gradually beginning to weather the recession and spread its wings. It is this picture of Poland, an affluent and a peaceful country, one can see in nearly 200 photographs captured by Willem van de Poll.
