In the mid-1950s, he began working for the weekly magazine Przyjaźń, where he was responsible for propaganda photojournalism. Images deemed useful to the magazine and approved by the censors went to print. However, like any journalist worth his salt, he photographed more and saw a broader picture than his duties dictated. This album contains more than 110 photographs selected from around 80,000 beautifully crafted frames. They show different facets of Poland, the country as it was, despite what the authorities wanted it to be. A Poland “in passing.”
