An exhibition of little known but excellent works by two women photographers from Warsaw – Zofia Chomętowska and Maria Chrząszczowa, who documented the destruction and the rebuilding of Warsaw in the period  1945–47, and the lives of the people of Warsaw in the years immediately following the end of the war.  Although they were often seen wandering through the ruins of the city together, they worked individually. Each of them photographed the city in a different way. With the eye of a reporter, Zofia Chomętowska documented the lives of the people and showed the city slowly coming back to life.  Maria Chrząszczowa, on the other hand, avoided people, concentrating instead on composition, with emptiness and austerity taking centre stage. You are welcome to attend the opening of the exhibition on: 29.09.2011 at 18:00. Organisers: Fundacja Archeologia Fotografii [Archaeology of Photography Foundation], DSH.
